No.7's Mexican Rice

The No 7's Mexican Rice is a fabulous meal for any occasion. Easy to make and simply delicious!

 

Preparation:  Ingredients:

Add into a small pot olive oil to heat.

Slowly start to add onion and garlic until they sweat and they reach a golden yellow colour.

Next add your rice, continue to stir to allow rice to crisp to a golden yellow colour, at this point add your sauce and leave it in for about 2 min.

Add 1 tablespoon of No 7 hot sauce. Now you are ready to add water 1 finger above the level of Rice. Add your salt (to taste).

Cover and let cook for about 15-20 min covered.

  • 2 cups Rice (washed)
  • 1 Garlic Clove (minced)
  • 1 Small Onion (diced)
  • 1/2 a jar of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon of No 7 hot sauce (add more if you prefer)
  • 3 cups of Water

 

Tips:

  • Never stir rice-as you will mush it up.
  • You can lift - look and use a fork to test texture or taste.
  • Add meat, shrimp, chicken, veg - cooked to rice.
